Wednesday, October 04, 2006 ::: GOOD THINGS CAN COME OUT OF THE DIRT Brandon Flower says. Click here to watch the Killers ~~strip~~ perform live at the Celebrity in Las Vegas for a secret gig back in August, filmed for Clear Channel's Stripped Music. They belted out their latest songs from Sam's Town plus their classic Somebody Told Me and All These Things That I've Done from Hot Fuss. Brandon Flowers might be the worst singer when performing live, but somehow his charisma on stage just makes up for the vocal problems and the band totally rocks. There's also a short interview following the gig in which they talk about Sam's Town, their haters, teacups and more. It's a great show, be there now and WATCH IT! Flowers once said some time ago that Sam's Town is going to be the greatest album in the past 20 years - well I think nobody would quite think so but I can easily see why he said that. You may say it's a real cocky statement but they're just proud of their work and I'll just see it as a genuine sentiment from someone who's worked really hard to produce something great. If you listen to their new album there are some moments so fine that you know they've nailed it (see post below for a brief review of Sam's Town). They've only released 2 albums so far but their songs are such gems I'd excuse Flowers even if he'd go on and say how The Killers is the greatest band that has ever existed. And I'll show you why: When You Were Young I'm sure I've posted this before, and talked about how amazing it is for a zillion times (here I go again!). Their latest single and lead single off Sam's Town is a soaring tune about heartbreaks and redemption. Best song of the century (once again I know it's not but it certainly feels that way at this moment - and you'll have to see their live performance!) Enterlude & When You Were Young at VMA 06 Somebody Told Me Their first single ever and also my favorite song from Hot Fuss. Fell in love with this band ever since I saw this on MTV. It's quirky it's fun and it defines the sound of The Killers, the greatest synth pop band right now and who could've guessed they're from Vegas! Mr. Brightside Another great song from Hot Fuss. No explanation needed, everybody loves this song. So those are a few samples I'm giving you just to give you a taste of what them Vegas boys are about. Now, after giving you some rave reviews, it's time for you boys to give a little back by launching a world tour and playing a gig in Hong Kong!
